The History of the Million Dollar Solution

The Million Dollar Solution coaching group is one of the longest running coaching groups for elder law and estate planning attorneys. Founded in 2002 by elder law attorney, William (Bill) Hammond, Esq., of Overland Park, Kansas, this group started as a small Mastermind. Members traveled to the Kansas City Airport Marriott three times a year for brainstorming sessions to help grow and build their elder law practices. What resulted from those sessions became magical!

You see, Bill Hammond was not just an attorney. He had started his professional career in marketing. He recognized that marketing was not taught in law school, and he wanted to share his knowledge with other like-minded elder law attorneys.

Many of the original members still have the silver platter they received in the mail from Bill, inviting them to join him in Kansas City, promising to deliver a “million dollar law firm on a silver platter.” It seemed too good to be true.

Thinking just that, but looking for a way to grow her revenue, new attorney, Julieanne (Julie) Steinbacher, jumped on a plane and made her first trip to Kansas City. The rest, as they say, is history.

Julie ate up the information from Bill, implementing what she learned, and within a few years had her own “million dollar law firm.” As the group grew bigger it turned into the Gold group. Julie started her own mastermind out of the group and introduced her concept of long-term care planning for the second half of life to everyone with her “Long-Term Care Planning Sales Training System.” Julie, who has a Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, understood that it not only is important to prepare for what happens when you die, but also for what happens if you don’t die, but become sick instead and need long-term care. Around the same time the economy took a hit, the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 was passed and Julie and Bill joined forces so that they could help even more elder law attorneys from across the nation. In 2009, Julie become President of the Million Dollar Solution. She and Bill introduced the Senior Estate Planning Institute in 2012 to assist elder law attorneys who wanted to take their practices to a higher level. Bill retired from leading the coaching group in 2013, but still comes around every now and then, and works collaboratively with Julie to help law firms that are introducing financial services to their practices.

Different levels of membership were added over the years including Silver, Gold, Platinum, and the Long Term Care Planning Mastermind and Ultimate Mastermind groups. The Million Dollar Solution has expanded beyond just marketing. We recognize that being a small business owner is so much more involved than just marketing. It involves talent management, closing the deal, and having office procedures in place to get the work done effectively, as well as having the proper mindset and attitude to reach goals.

The Million Dollar Solution celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2017. We are constantly testing the water to bring our members the latest and greatest in elder law and estate planning, office protocols and procedures, talent management, personal mindfulness, and marketing ideas.
